Introduction: The molar-incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a dental disorder that presents with hypomineralization of permanent first molars (PFMs). In cases of more than two affected molars, the permanent incisors may be affected as well. In addition, the disorder may appear in primary and permanent second molars, premolars and cusp tips of permanent canines. Material and methods: A search was conducted and limited to articles published over the last 10 years. Results: The initial search produced 575 papers. Finally, 59 papers were selected, of which 43 studies were used for the analysis of the prevalence of MIH. After analyzing the results, an exhaustive explanation was given for each of the findings. Conclusions: The prevalence of MIH over the last 10 years varies from 2.8% to 40.2%. Uniformity of the diagnostic criteria should be pursued in the future for a better analysis and comparison of studies.
